This week, students are discussing women’s activism during the latter part of the 20th century. They’re reading a piece by Danielle McGuire called “Sexual Violence and the Long Civil Rights Movement” in which McGuire looks at civil rights campaigning on the campus of Florida A&M, a historically black university. Blog posters are to respond to the following question: Would the students’ rallying cry, “It Was Like All of Us Had Been Raped,” be an effective organizing tool on campuses today? Why or why not?
