Blog Topic #2 for HIS 237


Topic: Laws give us great insight into a people. People make laws that reflect their society. In fact, the federal constitution has been called a “magic mirror”–it reflects those who look upon it. What, therefore, does our first state constitution say about early Michiganians? Since we already had a federal constitution with specified rights, what does the inclusion of a bill of rights say about Michigan society at this time? Would you have added any rights to this section?
