Holy Name Cathedral History: The parish was founded in Chicago, Illinois in 1843. The catholic vatican created the diocese of Chicago, lead by Bishop William Quarter and Reverend Walter Quarter, which was headquartered at Cathedral of St Mary on the corner of Madison and Wabash.
